The EUROCONTROL Network Manager User Forum (29-30 January 2025) focused on improving Europe’s air traffic efficiency and resilience. AVTECH’s Annika Åkerman (KAM) and Bahram Bahar (TM) actively participated in discussions, sharing valuable insights.

Key topics included:

• Ensuring ANSPs meet capacity targets to prevent delays
• Improving adverse weather management with proactive strategies
• Maintaining disciplined flight plan execution for safety and predictability.

However, strict adherence to pre-filed vertical profiles can lead to inefficiencies.

AVTECH proposes a more flexible approach, enhancing coordination between ATC and airlines and using predictive meteorological tools for real-time flight level adjustments. This would optimize fuel efficiency, reduce CO₂ emissions, and support EUROCONTROL’s sustainability goals while maintaining network stability.
